Richard McDowell also stepped down as Chairman after many years of faithful service, and Phil Mailey was elected as new Chairman of the Club. The 2023 committee members were returned for 2024, along with new appointees Anthony Brown, Jonny Hanna and David Gregg. Richard McDowell was unanimously elected as the new Club President.

Catch Returns

The committee and officers would be grateful if all members could complete their catch return for the 2023 season by logging onto the membermojo website and updating the relevant section of their personal details section. This information is important to help monitor the health of our fish stocks which are under constant pressures.

2023 AGM

The 2023 AGM was held on 19th January and was well attended with around 60 members present. Peter Marshall gave his secretary's report for the previous season and David Robinson gave his treasurer's report detailing the club's finances. Those present discussed a range of issues but of greatest concern was the significant decline in the numbers of dollaghan being reported in the catch returns. Totals for the 2022 season were 238 dollaghan and 48 salmon, both drastically lower than in the previous few years.

A single notice of motion, "to allow the use of sight indicators", was voted on and passed by majority. Club rules have been updated accordingly.

A new committee was elected for the upcoming season. Both Richard Mcdowell and David Robinson were re-elected to their roles as Chairman and Treasurer respectively. Peter Marshall has decided to step down from his role as secretary. The club, committee and other officers wish to thank Peter for his years of dedicated service to the club. At the time of the AGM no new secretary was forthcoming.

A special committee meeting was subsequently held with the sole purpose of finding a new secretary. Committee member Matthew Warwick has kindly agreed to take on this position. The club wishes him well in his new role.

2022 AGM

The 2022 AGM was held on 7th April. This was the first such meeting since before the Covid-19 pandemic. Peter Marshall the secretary gave a detailed report covering club news/business over the past two seasons. David Robinson the treasurer gave a report on the club's finances.

A large number of notices of motion were voted on and those which were passed are as follows:

An appropriate landing net to be carried at all times while fishing the river.

An unhooking tool to be carried at all times while fishing the river.

No treble hooks to be used at any time of year, for any method of fishing or for any fish species.

The catch limit of trout/dollaghan to be reduced to 2 fish per day.

To ban the use of any item or device used to suspend any natural or artificial bait or that aids the depth control/ suspension of flies on all club waters. This includes floats, strike indicators, pimps, bungs, corks and floatation type. This does not include floating or coloured/marked fly lines or euro nymphing lines.

All anglers to keep on the move during daylight hours, fishing one cast one step either upstream or down depending on the method being used.

Paragraph 14 of the constitution to be altered with the following wording added, “ or confirmed by online membership renewal”

Paragraph 21 of the constitution to have the following wording added,

“Notices of motion for consideration at the AGM may be submitted by any club member and should be in writing, by letter or email, signed by the individual proposer only and must be lodged with the honorary Secretary on or before the last day of November. Any notices of motion arriving after this date will not be considered for that year's AGM”.

2021 catch return

Many thanks to all those who completed their catch return. The totals for the 2021 season were 708 Dollaghan and 132 Salmon. Very respectable figures considering the severe lack of water throughout the majority of the season. Well done to all!

2022 AGM postponed

For the attention of all members, please be advised that due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic the AGM originally planed for January 2022 has now been postponed until further notice. It is anticipated that an AGM will be held later in the year. Members will be updated in due course.

Day ticket sales move online

Following the successful transition of all membership administration to our online system, the Committee has now decided that the time is right to move day ticket sales online as well.

From the beginning of the 2022 season day tickets can be purchased online at Fishingticket.com. Registration is simple and buying a day ticket with this system is quick and straightforward. As before, day tickets are limited to 5 per day and are not available on Sundays. Visiting anglers can purchase a ticket either on the day or the day before they want to fish. Having talked to several regular day ticket anglers, many of whown travel from far afield, this new system has been welcomed. No more journeys to Kells to discover that the day tickets are sold out!

Please go to the "Day Tickets" section of this website for further information and a link to our fishingticket.com page.

AGM REPORT 2019 :

Just want to advise that following the AGM this evening Peter Marshall has stepped down as Club Secretary following approx 7 years of sterling service and hard work on behalf of our club due to work commitments.

Peter received a well deserved round of applause from fellow club and committee members at tonight's meeting and it was very well deserved. Peter you will be missed more than you know and we look forward to seeing you along the river bank this season.

We are very fortunate to have an experienced and able man to step into Peter's shoes in the shape of Michael Currie who did a stint as club secretary in previous years.  We wish Michael every success and would ask all club members to give him their full support in his important role as club secretary which he has taken on on our behalf. Thanks again Peter and thanks Michael
