Hi all at Kells River. I and two pals from Porthmadog Wales, we spent a few days fishing for the wild brown trout on your river back in May 1999 and in 2000 were to come back the next year but couldn't because of the foot and mouth disease, the trout fishing was fantastic and the local anglers were really welcoming, remember one boy named Paddy great fisherman and storyteller and Garry who helped organise our trips, we also had a great lot of guinness at the bridge bar. congratulation on a suburb web site and thanks for the memory as both my pals are casting a line on that big river in the sky.

I had a great day near the end of last season on the river. Thank you Michael for sorting me out with a day ticket and for the information regarding the river. I fished it every week many years ago and it was great to renew my acquaintance with an old friend.

Fished the Kells a number of times on day tickets. Decided to try it up above the bridge at Moorfields on Friday to suss out the lovely pools here. I didn't walk along the embankment going in as there were 4 bullocks. Comming back down through this field they edged closer to me untill one charged me. i just saw it in time to jump into the river. Thankfully it wasnt high water. have you trained it to recognize the members ? Seriously though take care here, if it wasn't for the last small tree; it chased me round before the open ground; I wouldn't be writting here. Apart from this , I look forward to fishing this beautiful river again at the first chance I get.

I'm another that fished the river up at Moorfields as a young lad back in the late 70's when I visited Ireland. Your lovely river got me into trout and salmon fishing, spurred on by the loss of a good Dollaghan which seemed a monster back then. Great website, so pleasantly suprised to find it. Must go back.

Finally it looks like were gonna get some water, hopefully the dollaghen wont be to far away as there's a few getting caught in the maine

Hi Wesley, Good to see you haven’t forgotten your old home land and those two rogues are still club members. We will be putting reports onto this site from July on when the Dollaghan start running, at the minute the river is very low as we haven’t had much rain over the last six weeks, keep aneye on the site for updates Regards Gary

Hi, Was looking for some fishing reports here as i intend to come over with my father in law at some point as my parents still live in Kells. I used to fish the Kells water along with Johnathan Dougan and Gordon Wilson when we were at school, the highlight being a 3lb+ Dollaghan. I now live on the outskirts of Southampton now where i still fly fish on the Test and Itchen for brownies and Grayling. Would love to hear how the kells river is fishing. Regards Wes in Hampshire

Coming up north to work in Ballymena in September. Fished the river main last year, had a few trout, don’t know if they were dillaghan or not. I look forward to fishing on your river this time north.
